History of the IPC
The International Polocrosse Council was formed at a meeting at the Queensland Gold Coast, Australia on 21st June 1976. The Foundation Countries were: Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Rhodesia and South Africa. Foundation President: Mr Max Walters A.M., M.B.E. (Australia).
International Polocrosse Council Meetings have been held at:
- First 1976 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
- Second 1978 at Lake Taupo, New Zealand
- Third 1983 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
- Fourth 1987 at Bowral, New South Wales, Australia
- Fifth 1992 at Forbes, New South Wales, Australia
- Sixth 1996 at Werribee, Victoria, Australia
- Seventh 2002 at Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia
- Eighth 2003 at Warwick, Queensland, Australia
At the eighth International Polocrosse Council Meeting held on 5th May 2003, Foundation President Mr Max Walters A.M., M.B.E. announced his retirement and did not stand for re-election. Mr Peter Crauford (AUSTRALIA) was elected President.

Australia hosted the First International Test Match Series in the history of polocrosse in May/June 1983 with two Test Matches between Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Zimbabwe. Australia defeated New Zealand in the finals of both Tests.
In 1988 Australia hosted an Australia –v- The World Mens Test Series with overseas players coming from New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Zimbabwe to make up the World Team. Three Test Matches were held, Australia won 2, The World 1.
In June 1997 South Africa hosted a Quadrangular Test Series for mixed teams (3 men 3 women) with teams from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe won the Series.
In April/May 2003 Australia hosted the inaugural World Cup at Warwick, Queensland, Australia. Game results are listed here.
